Woodfired Chocolate Donuts

Cooked on Ooni Karu

A good cookout needs a good finish. Who doesn't love a chocolate donut. These donuts were finished with a brush of maple syrup and a sprinkle of kosher salt. Sweet, Salty and Chocolatey. Recipe Below
 
  • 1 cup (120 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (70 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons (28 grams) unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
Use a piping bag or freezer bag with the corner cut to pipe batter into a greased donut pan. Bake at 450F in the Karu (or any woodfired oven or grill) with our Oak Wood Chunks for 8 minutes, turn halfway through cooking. Let cool 5 minutes then dip tops in good quality maple syrup. Sprinkle Kosher Salt on top.
